The Munich Muse Series
This series, called “Munich muse” evolved through 2003 - 2005, as a result of visits to the Munich Inorghenta Jewellery Fair, hence the name. It was influenced by the innovative approaches to stone cutting, the beauty of the stones and a personal desire to move towards more graphic and simple forms. As a result, a visible European influence has emerged in the pieces. This represents a design departure from my strongly figurative work, for which I am known. Much more emphasis has been placed on abstract shape, pattern and textural surfaces, harmonising with the strong geometric forms of the stones. The pieces are individually hand made using fusing and forming techniques. This work is still evolving.
